Spring 2017

Name of Volunteer Service
This semester I continued volunteering as a third grade small group leader at The Summit Church.

Date and Time of Volunteer Service
January 2017-present, Sundays 9-10:30

Total hours spent volunteering
30

During this service project, what did you do?
I am one of two third grade small group leaders. I helped facilitate small group discussions and games with the kids. This semester I also had new opportunities to lead our large group time as well as worship.

Some things I did were:
-Facilitate engaging activities and games
-Lead prayer time
-Collaborate with parents
-Engage kids with varying personalities
-Teach the Bible in a fun way that kids can understand
-Engage kids in the bible story by leading large group activities
-Lead worship

During this service project, what lessons did you gain?
Some things I learned during this semester:
-Depending on God (trusting Him even when I’m weary in my role and when we go from three to two leaders)
-Going with the flow–>more joy in what I’m doing
-Getting out of my comfort zone by leading in new ways (large group)
-Collaborating with other leaders to create shared vision for our kids
-Community/familyhood with other volunteers was strengthened

During this service project, how did the community benefit?
Kids are loved! Kids engage with other kids at their schools! Kids fall in love with Jesus!

How could you replicate this volunteer service to help more people?
This type of volunteering replicates itself because we are investing in the future generations who will help more people. Summit also leads all other age groups in an engaging small group time, at both its North Little Rock campus, Conway campus, and now Saline County campus.
